Fukuro Obi with Pure Gold Leaf – Cranes, Pheasants & Flowers on Distant Hills[Silk]
This exquisite fukuro obi features pure gold leaf accents woven into a scenic design of distant mountains, cranes, pheasants, and blooming flowers. The result is a luxurious piece with brilliant shine and refined elegance.
There are signs of discoloration along the central fold line, as well as faint stains and patina on the plain and reverse sections. Some noticeable stains exist, but the overall condition is excellent and the obi is wearable.
Made of pure silk, measuring approximately 420 cm by 31 cm. Ideal for formal occasions or as a striking decorative element in interior spaces.
The “Pure Gold Leaf 900 Saga-nishiki” is a luxurious Japanese brocade that showcases the pinnacle of traditional craftsmanship. Made by slicing specially crafted Japanese paper coated with gold, silver, or lacquer into thin strips for the warp, and weaving them carefully with hand-dyed, twisted silk threads for the weft.
Its patterns feature classic designs such as ajiro (bamboo weave), sayagata (continuous geometric motif), and hishi (diamond shapes), exuding both elegance and cultural significance.
Due to the labor-intensive process and the delicate craftsmanship required, only a small amount can be woven each day. This makes it an extremely rare and valuable textile, prized for ceremonial attire, theatrical costumes, or as a collectible work of textile art.
